Teen Autobiography Contest

Monday, February 15, 2021

Write your life's story (or part of it) and be entered to win a prize!

This Tender Land is told through the viewpoint of Odie, a character traveling down the Mississippi River in search of his family. What stories about your life could you tell? This autobiography contest is your opportunity to share the best (or worst) experiences you've had so far. The subject is up to you, but it must be something that has happened to you in your lifetime. It may not be in a published book, but your library staff would love to read it!

Guidelines for the contest:

  • Open to all students in grades 7-12
  • Must be about something that happened to you in your lifetime; feel free to exaggerate the truth
  • Limited to 750 words (three pages, double-spaced)
  • Submit electronically to iplprograms@gmail.com by 11:59 pm on Monday, March 15
Submitting your autobiography will enter you into a prize drawing!

For more information, email iplprograms@gmail.com or call the library at 319-334-2470.
