Meeting Rooms

The Community Room
The Independence Public Library has a Community Room for library sponsored or co-sponsored programs. However, when not in use for library activities, this meeting room is available to community organizations and groups under the guidelines approved by the Library Board. The Library Board neither approves nor disapproves of content, topics, subject matter, or points-of-view of individuals or groups using the Community Room.

How to Reserve the Community Room

You may request to reserve the Community Room by reading the policy and filling out a written application (PDF)

You may want to see if the Community Room is scheduled during the time for which you would like to use it. Checking the date and time can be done at the library or by calling 319-334-2470.  The Community Room can be reserved up to two months in advance.

The form must be turned in with a signature in person, by email, or by fax 319-332-0306.

There is no guarantee that your request will be approved, as there may be outstanding requests or library programs in the works at the time of your inquiry. Also, there are usage guidelines that need to be met.  You will receive either a confirmation or a denial of your Community Room Application.
